Study of leading public policies in the UNECE region which promote sustainable construction materials and, particularly, the use of wood in green buildings

18/09/2014
The Forestry and Timber Section of the UN Economic Commission for Europe – Food and Agriculture Organization (UNECE-FAO) together with the Housing and Land Management Unit of the UNECE are undertaking a study of leading public policies in the UNECE region which promote sustainable construction materials and, particularly, the use of wood in green buildings.
The purpose of this project is:
· To develop a succinct overview of the current policy environment regarding the use of wood in the building sector in the European UNECE region (North America, Europe, Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus) and;
· To provide commentary on the effectiveness of such regimes in driving the adoption of wood products.”
The UNECE/FAO Forestry and Timber Section commissioned Helen Goodland from Brantwood consulting to conduct an online survey and to compile the results in a report. The survey itself is online and can be accessed under: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/unecefaoconstructionmaterials
